Multi-agency training offer

Introduction

Welcome to the Training section of the Slough Safeguarding Partnership Website. We aim to provide a range of multi–agency training for managers and practitioners that support delivery of the priorities identified by the Slough Strategic Leaders Group and the Slough Safeguarding Learning and Development Forum. The training supports recent research and reviews (SPR’s, SAR’s and DHR’s) both nationally and locally.

This partnership training builds on the agency specific in-house training that is provided by all agencies. It provides practitioners with essential skills in partnership working to safeguard children and vulnerable adults using agreed multi agency competencies.

These multi agency competencies do not replace agency specific competencies necessary for practitioners to function effectively in specific roles. Practitioners must therefore attend in-house agency specific training and have a basic understanding of safeguarding at a minimum foundation level before attending multi agency events.

All seminars are 2 hours long and take place via Microsoft Teams. The seminars will concentrate on a specific aspect of safeguarding practice in a multi-agency environment and are intended to support practitioners who need to “refresh” or update their safeguarding training.

What training do I need?

The training offer is entirely about multi-agency working and as such is all targeted at Level 3 of the safeguarding competencies.

We do not provide in-house or single agency training and we do not repeat the training you have in-house. Whatever sector you work in, you should have attended your in-house safeguarding introductory training before taking up any of the multi-agency training in this offer.

You need to have a good understanding of the role of your agency and your professional role in safeguarding in order to acquire the partnership competencies you need.  We believe in individuals taking responsibility for their own learning, in discussion with their line management.

For colleagues looking to fulfil their responsibility for Level 3 children’s safeguarding, we have developed a number of different 2 hour seminars which can be combined to provide you with your 8 hours CPD.  Simply choose the most appropriate seminars for your learning needs.

Early booking is recommended as courses are always oversubscribed.

Evaluation

All virtual face to face training will be evaluated immediately and then several months later to establish impact. Certificates will be issued only to participants who have completed evaluations and remained for the whole of the training.

Attendance

Please note that numbers for each course are strictly restricted to ensure quality interactions and group work. It is essential that practitioners attend this course having booked it.  Non-attendance severely affects the learning environment for the other participants and others are prevented from attending the course.

Cost

Several agencies contribute their time and skills to this training and this is highly valued by all those involved. We are still offering training In 2023/24 free of charge to people who work in the public and voluntary sectors and are represented on the Safeguarding Partnership.

As we are providing seminars to a smaller cohort of learners in the virtual world, it is labour intensive for the facilitators. We therefore have to implement a £100 charge for any non attendance which is not notified to the us 7 days prior to the course.   We will however accept replacements up to 24 hours before the course.

If practitioners are unable to attend due to an emergency, Janine Edwards should be contacted on 07596 279252 or Janine.Edwards@slough.gov.uk at the earliest opportunity.

You need to register before you can book any courses.  You will then be able to access your own personal log of your training including access to certificates and a record of the courses you attended. Please remember to keep a note of login details and password.
