Safeguarding in Education

The Safeguarding in education settings group provides an overview of the effectiveness of safeguarding in early years, schools , colleges and other education settings

The Safeguarding in Education Professional :

  • Support education settings with compliance on government guidance in respect of safeguarding responsibilities and CPD requirements
  • Provide expert advice and consultation to education setting regarding safeguarding matters in schools and to sign post to the most appropriate support services
  • Foster and facilitate good communication between education providers and partners to safeguard children 
  • Disseminate and signpost best practice in safeguarding in schools on policy development and share learning from Safeguarding Practice Reviews
  • Follow up and investigate any safeguarding complaints with schools from external bodies (Ofsted, ESFA, and CP&S Unit)
  • Collate, manage and evaluate the annual Sec 11 audits (Sec 175/157) on behalf of the Safeguarding Partnership

The KCSIE group is a sub group of the Safeguarding Partnership to enhance collaboration between partners to keep children safe in schools and ensure those missing school/education are safeguarded. It will also promote the best safeguarding practices in early years settings, primary, secondary, and special schools, as well as further education colleges in the maintained, academy, voluntary, and independent sectors. The terms of reference can be found attached
